Benicia Ballet Theatre (benicia-ballet.org) launched its first production of The Nutcracker in 1980.  Professional guests & Benicia Ballet Theatre Company dancers dazzle audiences with a festive holiday treat for all ages.  The full-scale  production is the dance company's biggest performance and fundraising event of the year! Three magical performances for the whole family! Performed by a cast of over 100 community members from Benicia Ballet Theatre and Benicia Festival Orchestra.

Margaret Rose Kenrick - Benicia Ballet School Director

Benicia Ballet Theatre Artistic Director Ms Kenrick has appeared in the Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C.  and in the Nutcracker movie, released by Atlantic Productions, 1987. Before traveling and performing throughout the nation, she studied and received dance training at Riverside Ballet Theatre, continuing with Redlands Festival Ballet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet School in Seattle.

She performed professionally for Pacific Northwest Ballet and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre She made her first guest appearance as the Sugar Plum Fairy for Redlands Festival Ballet. After completing a BA from UC Los Angeles and a MA from UC Riverside in biological sciences she moved to the bay area to begin a career in the biotech industry. Currently she is a Senior Research Associate with Genentech.

After 12 years with Benicia Ballet Theatre and Benicia Ballet School Ms Kenrick stepped into the role of Artistic Director.

Jeanie Pors - Founding Director of Benicia Ballet Theatre and School (1986) and RAD Program Director, received a Ford Foundation Scholarship to San Francisco Ballet School at age 17.  She trained with Lew and Herald Christenson, and danced as a member of Ballet Oregon and Alan Howard’s Pacific Ballet Company of San Francisco. She has received extensive classical ballet training in the Russian, Italian, and English (RAD) methods of ballet training and is a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance. 

To really put you in the Christmas mood, be sure to head downtown of the Tree Lighting ceremonies and merchant open house held each year in Benicia. Halloween in Benicia is a blast and well worth a visit.
