The photo shows a surfer taking that famous Wedge ride. It short, its sweet, and it packs punch if you don't catch it at its peak. The hardest part for surfers to learn is how to end the ride. The waves flatten out or smack down on the beach, directly onto the sand. That can really hurt if you're not in the right position. There have been some broken bones, sadly some broken backs and necks, and maybe even a few deaths throughout the years. It's really not recommended for the novice. The Wedge is a dynamic wave machine created by Mother Nature.
