HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF.--Surfboards on a wall? Sort
of... the board designs are actually art relief work molded
to the building as part of its decor at Huntington City
Beach in Huntington Beach, California.
While the photo
itself is no great masterpiece, the surf art holds interest
in the fact that it is a unique building treatment not
commonly seen.
Especially unusual about the boards and themes are the
muted greens and odd burnt orange color schemes. You just
never see these color combinations on surfboards in the
contemporary surfing culture. The colors were selected
possibly to underwhelm slightly and not be too appealing to
those finding them attractive decorations worth trying to
detach.
Among the board designs is one with the California
grizzly seen in California symbols, and then there's a board
with an American flag design.
