Adelanto was founded in 1915 by the Hotpoint Electric Iron inventor, E. H. Richardson. Riverside-San Bernardino metro area. Adelanto is fifteen minutes

Adelanto in the Victor Valley got its name from the Spanish word
meaning progress. With weather ranging from winter snow to warm summers, Adelanto's location in the high desert elevation of 3000 feet and a measly 5.5 inches of rain annually make this the mecca of outdoor sports activities. Year round recreational activities include boating, water skiing, fishing, snow skiing and more.

More than 30 parks, Mojave Narrows Regional Park, 5 golf courses and the High Desert Mavericks Baseball Stadium and Conference Center, Silverwood Lake, Big Bear Lake, Lake Arrowhead, Lake Isabella, Lake Mead and the Colorado River offer incredible options for residents of Adelanto. Southern California's finest mountain skiing at Bear Mountain, Snow Summit, Snow Valley, Wrightwood/Mountain High, Mammoth Mountain, and June Mountain provide an incredible offering of both mountain winter sports, and beaches to the west.

San Bernardino, San Gabriel, and Sierra Nevada Mountains, Joshua Tree National Monument, East Mojave National Scenic Area, and Death Valley National Monument are all within reach of Adelanto.
