Visit the beautiful, rolling hills of North San Diego County in the Autumn to enjoy  sunny, Mediterranean weather and down-home hospitality in Valley Center. A favorite destination for farm-fresh foods is Bates Nut Farm where you can buy their home-grown seasonal produce and pick a pumpkin for Halloween celebrations.

Like many farms catering to the experience-hungry public, Bates excels in offering activities and things to do while visiting their commercial farm venture. They keep an active calendar of events throughout the year, with Fall being one of the finest times to go there when the Pumpkin Patch is open.

Enticing grownups, and especially families with children, there are pony rides, tractor hayrides, a hay maze, bounce houses and weekend food delights with BBQ, funnel cakes and all the decadent, tasty treats people eat at fairs. Weekends (Saturdays & Sundays) are the times you'll experience the whole enchilada of offerings, which is why parking fees are charged during the busiest October days. Also on October weekends bands perform on stage mostly playing bluegrass, folk and Americana music.
