  • This weekend California’s famous gold rush comes to life at Paradise Gold Nugget Days featuring a parade, Chow Down BBQ, Donkey Derby and Kids 1800s era Costume Contest.
  • Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival shakes up the dust in William S. Hart Park on April 23 & 24, and the Western film actor who deeded his ranch and parkland for public use would surely approve. Hart acted in and produced some of the first Western shorts and silent films. His 265-acre ranch with room for the buffalo to roam will see plenty of chuckwagon cooking action, trick roping, cowboy and swing bands, games, dancing and fun.
  • Meanwhile back on the ranch, Auburn’s Gold Country Pro Rodeo takes place April 23-24 as well as Springville and Lakeside’s rodeos on the same weekend.
  • Halfway between Marysville and Grass Valley marks the spot on April 30 for the Smartsville & Timbuctoo Pioneer Day April 30.
