Newark Days Festival is a decades-old celebration with a colorful parade that includes marching bands and fanciful floats, a car show, fun run and carnival. The signature event for this Bay Area / Alameda County city is held in September (Sept. 18-21, 2014). Other fantastic festivals (there are hundreds throughout the state of California this weekend) include:
