Love a Parade

This year Disneyland touts its new parade, a flawless production imagined on storyboards and brought to life after thousands of hours of engineering, customization and final execution. That’s the dream world. Reality is a different beast as Californians take to the streets this week in parades ranging from funky (Hillbilly Hoedown at Kerman’s Harvest Festival); foreign (Danish Days Parade in Solvang); fantasy (Newark Days Parade); to nutty (Walnut Festival Parade in Walnut Creek). What community parades lack in terms of sophistication they make up for in enthusiasm.
