Are you looking for inspiration to launch your new year? With time and money, you can see the world. But with limited time and little or no money, you can run yourself ragged having fun at free events in California. Here are things to look forward to in 2012:

  • 50+ County Fairs. The price of admission is often free on “free days” or deeply discounted during promotions. Each year we get into a couple fairs free on Free Days.
  • Fruit Festivals – Food festivals usually aren’t free, though fruit festivals usually are. Fruit fests in 2012 include Lemon Festival, Artichoke Festival, 4 or 5 Strawberry Festivals, Apple Festivals, Avocado Festivals, Mandarin Festival, Tomato Festivals and many more.
  • 4th of July – 4th of July celebrations include parades & fireworks shows. There are hundreds of events throughout California and nearly all of them are free.
  • Summer Concerts – Cities & municipalities haven’t announced the summer concert series line-ups yet, but rarely do they charge to attend. Most these city-sponsored events are FREE.
  • Festivals, Farmers Markets & Street Fairs – You can check out our lists of ideas for things to do. The actual dates for many of the festivals are announced around February. Stay tuned!
