Let it snow in Lake Forest where the weather is warm and snow only arrives by truck. The annual City of Lake Forest wintertime tradition--snow laden slopes at Pittsford Park--is a one day only special event. Sleds and saucers will be available for you and your family to slide down Mount Pittsford. There will also be a free snow play area for kids 5 and under open during the entire event. Food and drinks will be available for a nominal fee. Pre-registration is mandatory. Everyone who sleds down the hill must have a pre-purchased wristband. Visitors can take Monarch Butterfly Tours at Natural Bridges State Beach. These walks take place during the winter months, when migrating monarchs come to Santa Cruz. The monarchs are migrating from their over-wintering sites along this portion of the coast and heading north, south and east. Public tours are offered on weekends in January and no reservations are necessary. Meet at the Visitor Center for the hour-long program.
