Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for 5th of May) is recognized worldwide as an occasion to pay tribute to the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in on May 5, 1862.

The annual parade with 5 announcers along the parade route includes dancers, marching units, low-riders, antique cars, and children. After the parade, the fiesta begins at the Corona City Park. Opening ceremonies Noon, Fiesta Band Shell. Mexican food, Mariachi groups, Folklorico Dancers, Queen Contest, Latin Salsa, Fun Zone, bouncers, ponies, and play at the game booths. The first Cinco de Mayo celebration in Corona was held in 1924. Ms. Teresa Lemus was the community's first Cinco de Mayo Queen. Having moved to Corona from Phoenix, Arizona, her father wished to host a Cinco de Mayo celebration. With the help of the community, money was raised to hold a parade, fiesta, and a street dance. At that time, the parade traveled along the city's Grand Boulevard Circle.
