Many towns host chili feeds and BBQs to support their local volunteer fire departments. But Gridley, Calif. is using street justice to raise money for firefighters. Red Suspenders Day began in 1961 as a dance to raise revenue for the volunteer firemen of Gridley.  Red Suspenders Day May 19-20, 2017 includes non-stop excitement — Unjustice Court nabs citizens who must raise bail to get out of jail — so they don’t miss this:

  • Bed races
  • Run around the Rice
  • Guns & Hoses Softball
  • Pinewood Derby
  • Parade
  • Pie Eating Contest
  • Car Show
  • BBQ & Dance
