Egg Hunts in the Spring Bring Thrills to All Ages in California

When the lawns turn green and the grass becomes a thick carpet in the spring, it's egg hunting time. Eggstravaganzas, egg scrambles and Easter egg hunts are happening throughout America-and in California there are hundreds of these events going on the weekends before Easter (April 24, 2011).

While the normal egg hunts include plastic eggs filled with candy, or simply candy thrown on the ground, there are some variations of the event worth mention. Among our favorites are:

A night time flashlight egg hunt for ages 14-18 in Yorba Linda

A night time flashlight egg race to find the Golden Egg for teens, held in Arcardia's Eisenhower Park

An egg hunt in Delano where over 4,000 eggs are hand-dyed the old fashioned way

An underwater egg hunt at McMurtrey Aquatic Center in Bakersfield

An egg hunt at Sequoia Park Z00 in Eureka where the animals eat the eggs
