Wildflower watchers can ride vintage trains at the Western Railway Museum.
The Vintage Comet departs each Saturday at 5 p.m. to
take advantage of the beautiful late-afternoon light. Adult passengers 21 and
older will learn about and sample four local wines from members of the Suisun
Valley Wine Co-Op. Juice is available for younger passengers. The name Vintage
Comet was chosen because of its
references to wine, to history, and to
honor an actual Sacramento Northern
train name, The Comet, which ran from
Oakland to Sacramento over the tracks
the Museum now owns and operates. Museum docents is on hand to describe the various native
wildflowers in bloom and visible from the rail line.
