BALBOA ISLAND -Balboa Island Art Walk.   Over a Mile of Art & Live Music! The  is the premier showcase for talented local artists and marks the start of the Island's summer season. Celebrating its 18th anniversary, the Artwalk takes place along the South Bayfront Promenade of Balboa Island. This fine art show features 90 artists exhibiting paintings, fine jewelry, blown glass, sculpture, and photography. Spectators will enjoy live music throughout the day on four stages along the walk. Performing musicians include the Retros, Don Ross Duo, Garry Gould, Rick Sherman and Alan Remington, Jim Roberts, and Grant Peacock. Limited edition Artwalk posters and t-shirts sold at Diamond & South Bayfront. Local restaurants  serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The OC Cruiser will be providing free shuttle service. The Balboa Island Artwalk is presented by Mary Hardesty Realty and sponsored by the Balboa Island Improvement Association.  Location: Bayfront and Marine Avenues.   Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is free.

CASTROVILLE - Castroville Artichoke Festival May 19-20, 2012. 53rd Annual Artichoke Festival Parade is Sunday May 20, 2012 starting at 9:45 A.M. on Merritt St. Time:  Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.   Cost: $10 general; $5 Child 4-12;  under 3 free.   Location: Hwy 183, Castroville, CA.

DANA POINT - Doheny Blues Festival, May 19-20, 2012. The annual 15th Annual Blues Festival at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point provides an incredible line up of entertainment. In 2012 Gregg Almann and Steve Miller are headline acts.  Cost: $90 2 day pass. Location: Doheny State Beach, Dana Point, CA.

- Downtown Street Faire May 20-21, 2012 Over 500 vendors, live entertainment, and food from around the world have combined to make the Escondido Downtown Street Faire a family tradition since 1989, held the 3rd Sunday of May and October. It is the 2nd largest single-day fair in California. 500 unique vendor booths line seven blocks along Grand Avenue. Food and family entertainment for all! Time: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.   Location:  historic Grand Avenue in downtown Escondido.

Huge outdoor festival includes over 200 vendors with Arts & Crafts, Chocolate Explosion in Chocolate Avenue (fudges, truffles, chocolate ice cream, chocolate cheese cake, etc.), bands performing and more.

OAKLAND - Tradition Innovation - A Fiber Artisans Conference, May 18 - May 20. The Conference of Northern California Handweavers offers seminars for learning and a market place for shopping.

- Glenn County Fair May 17-20, 2012 . Celebrating 96 years in 2012. Admission: $8 adult. Orland's own Zuppan Dairy received worldwide attention when their 4-year-old cow had quadruplets on December 6, 2011. All four heifer calves were born alive, healthy and at term without assistance. The calves are joining the Fair this year, so come on out and see.

OXNARD - California Strawberry Festival, May 19-20, 2012, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. This 29th Annual event attracts over 65,000 visitors from all over Southern California who converge on the scenic coastal town of Oxnard. The celebrates the region's rich agricultural heritage while raising funds for numerous Southland charities. There will be 250 Arts and Crafts booths, specialty  food vendors, a children's area, and live entertainment as part of the Festival's 75 acres.
