Rancho Palos Verdes Parks & Views

When attending a whale festival in Rancho Palos Verdes (in Los Angeles County's coastal area,) I had the good fortune to meet the parks & recreation director. We began talking about the city and its parks and he asked if I'd ever seen Del Cerro Park. He said it was worth a drive to check out. The views were quite stunning, he promised.

I am now a believer in Rancho Palos Verdes, thanks to the great advice I received. The park is incredible with views of Catalina Island so clear, you feel like it's possible to reach out and touch it. Canyons, coastal headlands, the Pacific Ocean and the island are visible from this special bluff. It is landscaped and has a safety fence just below the bluff to restrict access to the canyon below without blocking the views. The parking lot is busy with a constant movement of cars driven by tourists, families and locals coming to take in the views.

The breeze is quite cool in the afternoon so you may need a jacket to stay warm, or you can cuddle up as so many couples do when they visit this romantic spot. Wear comfortable walking shoes, though the grass-covered field you must climb is not too steep and it only takes a couple minutes to reach the benches where you can sit and stare at the incredible panoramas.

On my way out of the park, I saw an Open House sign. Just a few blocks down the hill from Del Cerro Park I decided to check out a house with swimming pool for sale in a beautiful neighborhood of well kept homes. It was just under $1 million dollars, quite a bargain for that area.
