The iconic symbol of Manhattan Beach is its 928-foot long Manhattan Beach Pier, one of many California public piers. The pier is located at the end of Manhattan Beach Boulevard. Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and Aquarium at the end of the pier is a highlight to visits that normally include beach activities such as surfing, skimboarding, sunbathing, volleyball and free pier fishing.
Special events in Manhattan Beach include volleyball and surfing tournaments, Sunday afternoon concerts in Polliwog Park during the summer months and many special events. Old Hometown Fair, Holiday Fireworks Festival, International Surf Festival and many more events fill a busy calendar for residents and visitors to participate in or watch. International Surf Festival is one of the highlights to the annual calendar of events. It is usually held the last weekend in July.
