August Festival California

August is one of California's finest months for festival celebrations. After July's Independence Day Celebrations it is no stretch to keep the momentum going. Among the fun events are a handful of zoo celebrations, as well as those listed below.

More than 50 colorful floats and 100 cars with dignitaries celebrate the largest India Independence Day in U.S.
Music, dance and food, health fair, 250 booths and exhibits, Fashion 10 am to 6 pm. Over 150,000 people expected to attend.

IMPERIAL BEACH: Surf Dogs August 2019, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Imperial Beach Pier Plaza 10 Evergreen Avenue, Imperial Beach, 91932 Cost: Free At the Unleashed by Petco Surf Dog Competition, fearless dogs will jump on their boards and hang 20. Proceeds benefit the San Diego Humane Society. With a dog food garden (food and treat samples), beginners agility course, dog adoptions, vendor booths, off-leash play area, beer garden, and food trucks.

Civic and Cultural Center
Guests are invited to sample delicious food and beverages from over 30 area restaurants. Two bands, live music, and exhibition in the Gallery, demonstrating artists, live theater performances, balloon artist, magicians, Kidsville with face painting, a caricature artist, make-and-take crafts, and kid-friendly foods are included. Brea Fest admission and entertainment is free. Local restaurants donate food to this annual community event that celebrates Brea's Art Programs such as the Curtis Theatre, Brea Art Gallery, and Concerts in the Park.

WINTERS: Earthquake Festival. August 24, 2018. It's Our Fault and We're Proud of It! Main Street between Railroad Avenue and First Street The Winters Earthquake Festival is a family event commemorating the rise of the City of Winters from a devastating local earthquake in 1892.

GROVER BEACH: Stone Soup Music Festival & Street Faire August 25-26, 2018

The Annual Stone Soup Music Festival and Street Faire is designed to celebrate diversity though music, food, arts and crafts. World class musicians performing on two stages, Dune Run-Run 5 /10k on Saturday. The Mardi Paws parade takes place at noon on Sunday. Dog owners are encouraged to dress their canine companions for a walking parade that snakes around the vendor footprint. All entries receive a participation ribbon and prizes are given for Best Dressed, Most Original, Most Colorful and Dog/Owner Look-alike.
