ALAMEDA - USS Hornet Big Band Dance features Legendary Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra -- on board the USS Hornet in Alameda. Ticket prices start at $45 and benefit the USS Hornet Museum. Ample free parking is available across the street from the pier. The USS Hornet Museum is located at 707 W Hornet Ave, Pier 3 in Alameda. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. with free dance lessons offered from 7:30-7:55 p.m. by former Fred Astaire dance instructor Jim Truesdale.

The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, under the direction of Bill Tole and with featured vocalist Nancy Knorr, will play from 8 p.m. to midnight. With three dance floors on an enclosed, heated hangar deck, the USS Hornet Museum is the Bay area's best place to dance. The Singing blue Stars of the USS Hornet will perform a Tribute to the Andrews Sisters during intermission. Period attire is encouraged. Admirals' Premium Reserved seating--premium reserved tables by the dance floor with the best view in front of the stage--are $85 per person. Reserved seating near the dance floor is $65 per person. General admission is $45 per person. If the event is not sold out, general admission tickets will be available at the door for $50 per person. All food and drink is sold separate from admission price. or call (510) 521-8448 x 282 during the week. A registered state and national historic landmark, the ship is permanently berthed at 707 W. Hornet Avenue, Pier 3 in Alameda, CA. The ship is open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular museum admission is $6-$15 for youths through adults and there is ample free parking across from the pier.

AUBURN - Cain's Crossing Renaissance Faire May 7 - 8, 2011  

Step into a 16th century English village awaiting the arrival of the Queen. Jugglers, magicians, music, dance, fortune tellers, food, sword fights, horse shoe demonstrations, and period costumes, plus a crafts village. Guests are invited to attend in costume. - Cinco de Mayo, May 7 -8, 2011. 2oth annual celebration at Plaza de la Guerra and Casa de la Guerra in downtown Santa Barbara. Free admission. Time: 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily. This year's celebration will be the biggest and best event yet. There will be even more great music, dance, savory food, and a kids corner full of activities.
- California Chili Cookoff. 38th Annual California State Chili Championship and 7th Annual Inland Empire Menudo Championship. More than 100 cooks in four main divisions will be competing for cash and prizes. Large Raffle, there will be a Chili Eating Contest, an all age Karaoke Contest, live music by the  Good times Band and Western Stuntman shows by the  Santa Fe Drifters. Other Contests include Ms. Chili Pepper, Mr. Hot Sauce and the World Famous Shoot and Holler. There will food and craft vendors, games and rides for the kids.  Location: National Orange Show Fairgrounds,689 S E St., San Bernardino, California . Admission is free. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Cinco De Mayo. The 21st Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration includes live entertainment featuring Mariachis, Aztec Dancers, Ballet Folkloric and live bands along with a colorful student art contest and exhibit, children's activities, authentic food, drinks, and dancing.
