ALAMEDA: USS Hornet Big Band Dance features Legendary Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra -- on board the USS Hornet in Alameda. Ticket prices start at 5 and benefit the USS Hornet Museum. Ample free parking is available across the street from the pier. The USS Hornet Museum is located at 707 W Hornet Ave, Pier 3 in Alameda. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. with free dance lessons offered from 7:30-7:55 p.m. by former Fred Astaire dance instructor Jim Truesdale.

The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, under the direction of Bill Tole and with featured vocalist Nancy Knorr, will play from 8 p.m. to midnight. With three dance floors on an enclosed, heated hangar deck, the USS Hornet Museum is the Bay area's best place to dance. The Singing blue Stars of the USS Hornet will perform a Tribute to the Andrews Sisters during intermission. Period attire is encouraged. Admirals' Premium Reserved seating--premium reserved tables by the dance floor with the best view in front of the stage--are 5 per person. Reserved seating near the dance floor is 5 per person. General admission is 5 per person. If the event is not sold out, general admission tickets will be available at the door for per person. A registered state and national historic landmark, the ship is permanently berthed at 707 W. Hornet Avenue, Pier 3 in Alameda, CA. The ship is open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular museum admission is - 5 for youths through adults and there is ample free parking across from the pier.
