GEYSERVILLE

May Day Festival Sunday May 4, 2014 Time: 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Free

Geyserville Chamber of Commerce's Annual May Day Festival. Enjoy music, kid's games, great food, local wines, and lots of family fun...there will be something for everyone! LEGEND has it, the first May Day Festival was back in 1925. It began as a day to come together as a community and celebrate the wonders of spring. Teachers and Students from all the surrounding schoolhouses were represented. Children would dress up as fairy tale characters and go on pony rides and cake walks. The Firefighters would have water fights and raise money for new equipment. Sometimes you might find a Quilt Raffle or Grape Box Derby Cars racing down the hill from Hoffman Grove. Local children danced the Traditional May Pole Dance and all anticipated the crowning of the May Day Queen!

TODAY, founding settlers of Geyserville still come together and celebrate what has become a town tradition. The crowning of the May Day Queen and her court will be at 1:30. The original may Pole from 1925 will be danced around by local 3rd Grade classes at 2:00. Enjoy the music of Hillary Marckx throughout the day. Kids can play in a Jump Room, climb the Rock Wall and have fun with face painting! The Middle School Ballet Folklorico will perform. There will be a wonderful Geyserville History Display and an egg-toss competition. Geyser Peak Wines and Beer will be served to accompany all the tasty eats, like steak sandwiches and more!
