California Theme Parks Halloween


There was a time when just a few theme parks in California hosted Halloween events. While Disneyland was one of the last holdouts, Halloween has gone mainstream. Park management may suffer an identity crisis determining who to serve--is it kids with parents--or teens and adults. Some parks successfully cater to both.  Here's the 21' crop!

Disneyland Halloween Time

September 3-October 31, 2021


ANAHEIM: Disneyland Resort's Halloween Time is included with regular admission to Disneyland theme parks. Several attractions offer new Halloween themes, Disney characters dress in festive attire and there are light projections, music & shows just for Halloween Time. 

Gilroy Gardens Boo Halloween

October 1-31, 2021

GILROY: Gilroy Gardens special Halloween event includes not-too-scary evening fun for kids and their folks with stage presentations from a cast of characters Vinnie the Vampire, Cranium the Mad Scientist and Wendella the Witch.

Knott's Scary Farm + Halloween Daytime Festival


September 16-October 31, 2021



BUENA PARK: Knott's Berry Farm's 'Knott's Scary Farm' sets the standard in Halloween haunts, with people from around the world coming to check it out. This year CarnEvil's creepy, twisted clowns overrun the boardwalk and freak people out. By day, families enjoy Camp Snoopy Halloween entertainment.

Legoland Brick or Treat

CARLSBAD: Family-oriented, kid-friendly Legoland California Brick or Treat includes costume contest parades with prizes, trick or treat stations and a scare zone with not-too-terrifying actors.

SeaWorld Howl-O-Scream + Spooktacular

September 17 - October 31, 2021



SAN DIEGO: Halloween Spooktacular Trick-Or-Treat for kids with a Parade returns for another fun year in 2021. But at sundown Howl-O-Scream, San Diego's NEWEST nighttime Halloween event unveils 3 haunted houses, 6 scare zones and great SeaWorld San Diego eats & treats.

CA's Great America Pumpkin Fest + Halloween Haunt

September 24-October 31, 2021


SANTA CLARA: California's Great America by day is a family-friendly theme park featuring Pumpkin Fest. At night the atmosphere grows thick with shady characters who prey on the fears of kids who never grew up in 5 mazes that include "Tooth Fairy."

Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights

September 9 - October 31, 2021



UNIVERSAL CITY: Sci-fi movies come to life in greats such as Haunting of Hill House, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Bride of Frankenstein. From the studios that wrote the book on scare flicks, this isn't just Halloween fun, it's serious business. 

Six Flags Magic Mountain Fright Fest

September 11-October 31, 2021
