Halloween Rolls in Like a Train

When Halloween rolls into California like a bright red fire truck or train, are you going to be ready? Popular costumes include shiny & short–fire engine, Bat Woman, boots, fashion hosiery, mesh stockings, and in California costumes are often sleeveless for our warm October nights. Sure, there’s a bit of skeleton-themed attire, too. There are Soooooooooo many events ON this weekend that we have to break them down by day. Traditional Trick or Treating happens on Monday, October 31, but here are some highlights for Friday, October 28 alone!

Friday, October 28, 2011 California Halloween Events:

  • AMERICAN CANYON Halloween Extravaganza. Event includes Halloween costume contest, games, prizes and more.
  • ANAHEIM – Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland Park. A special ticket event you can only enjoy if you buy tickets for the part includes Trick-or-Treat for all ages in the park, special haunted shows, a Halloween-themed fireworks extravaganza and more. Ticket Price $49 pre, $59 gate, includes parking. Time: 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. Halloween dates include: Oct. 28 & 31.

  • CALISTOGA Haunted House Halloween Event October 28 – 29, 2011. Join the fun at this community event that promises to be filled with entertaining surprises!

  • DANA POINT – Halloween Spooktacular and Moonlight Movie. Time: 3 – 8:30 p.m. Held at Lantern Bay Park, this event is open to the public and is free admission.
  • FERNDALEHalloween Carnival. Haunted house, games and good clean Halloween fun. Ferndale is a popular tourist destination on the Northern Redwood Coast where you’ll usually find additional events surrounding the holiday celebrations, 5:30 -9 p.m.
  • FORT BRAGG Halloween Haunted Hall of Horrors October 28 – 29, 2011. A scary attraction for older kids (not recommended for young) and adults.
  • FOUNTAIN VALLEY Trunk or Treat Halloween Costume Event and scary movie.
  • FRESNO - ZooBoo. Dates: Oct. 21, 22, 28, 29, 2011. Time: 5 to 8 p.m. Fresno, Fresno Chaffee Zoo. fresnochaffeezoo.org
  • HAWAIIAN GARDENS Haunted House, Oct. 28 – 31, 2011. Never a dull moment for children at this special haunted house that creates a safe, fun haven for kids during Halloween.
  • LAGUNA NIGUEL Haunted Trails October 27 -29, 2011. A very scary event for older kids and adults who can handle a good scare, this is a very popular attraction, no refunds.
  • LA HABRA - Children’s Museum Mini Monster Bash. This is a fee event in which you must RSVP and prepare to pay. Discount of 50% is offered for kids in costume.
  • LONG BEACH - Dark Harbor Halloween Haunt at Queen Mary. Cost: $20 -60. queenmary.com
  • MAMMOTH LAKES Trick or Treat in The Village Halloween Carnival & Haunted House. Games & Haunted House and more.
  • MILPITAS Howl at the Moon, 6 – 8 p.m. Halloween and kid costume contests, entertainment, and a spooky music concert all offer an evening of fun at Milpitas Civic Center.
  • OROVILLE Haunted House October 28-29, 2011, 7 – 9 p.m. The Oroville annual Halloween tradition is always full of scary fun and many surprises. Each year there’s a different theme. In 2011 it is Horror at the Movies.
  • PLEASANTON - Pirates of Emerson. 6 Haunted House attractions include the original, infamous Pirates of Emerson, plus a and Corn Maze. The Haunting Fields is where your worst nightmares become real. As you enter the Adventure, you enter a world of suspense and terror. The only thing on your mind will be your survival. At the Haunting Fields you are actually IN the various exotic scenes. Time: 7:05 – 11 p.m. Cost: $20 General Admission.   • SAN JUAN BAUTISTA Ghost Walk October 28 – 29, 2011 explores the great haunted places and spaces that reside within a city filled with history.
  • SAN PABLO Halloween House of Terror October 28 – 29, 2011 Event provides community fun and best of all, it’s free!
  • SOUTH PASADENA Spooktacular. One of the highlights to Halloween season is the city gathering of souls both young and old to celebrate an annual event in Orange Grove Park. Trick or Treat, costumes, and fun are guaranteed!
  • TOPANGATheatricum BOO-tanicum. The lively theater group that performs Shakespeare and other plays in an outdoor venue in beautiful Topanga invites the public to the inaugural Halloween event filled with costumes and theatrics, food, music and fun.
  • UNIVERSAL CITY – Halloween Horror Nights. Goes through Oct. 31. Buy tickets at halloweenhorrornights.com
  • VENTURA Trick or Treat Walnut Creek October 28, 29 &31, 2011. There are several Halloween events in Walnut Creek ranging from Downtown Trick-or-Treat to ARF to Broadway Plaza. So much fun in one city!
