BORREGO SPRINGS: First Day Hike #1 Anza-Borrego Desert State Park  Alcoholic Pass Trail  is a strenuous but relatively short hike over steep, rocky terrain. Meet at 10 a.m. at the north end of Di Giorgio Road for carpooling to the trailhead. Call visitor center (760) 767-4205 Hike #2 Borrego Mountain West Butte is a moderate 3-mile hike with some narrow ridges and scrambling on rocks toward the summit. Meet at 9 a.m. just off Highway 78 at the intersection of Buttes Pass Road, 1.5 miles east of Borrego Springs Road. COLOMA: Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park first day hike includes Monument Trail to Monroe Ridge Trail. The elevation ranges from 700 feet above sea level at the museum to 1,276 feet at the highest point on the trail. Meet at the park museum at 10 a.m. Age 13 or older.
