Central Coast California Travel Region

Central Coast California is one of the greatest beach getaways because it combines modern conveniences with old-fashioned fun. In addition to a variety of outdoor activities, there are also wineries to visit and enjoy, and you can still see cows roaming and grazing in the fields as you drive along the Interstate Highway 101 that hugs the coast in some spots. Stretching along the fabulous Big Sur Coast just north of Hearst Castle in San Simeon is one of the most rugged, spectacular drives in all of California on Highway 1, c0nnecting San Luis Obispo County with Monterey County. You'll end up in Carmel if you head north and go the distance. Between Los Angeles and San Francisco, the Central Coast drive is by far the best choice if you prefer the ocean and beaches as opposed to I-5 Freeway.

Central Coast State Parks include 87 parks and recreation areas, more than any other region in the state. Among the shining stars are the Hearst Castle.
